Fall In Love

After living in Calgary Alberta for 8 years I had completely forgotten about autumn. We just never go it there, it would always be snowing by October so younever go to see the leaves change!

Now that we have moved I've spend everyday in awe right now at the beauty coming out everyday! I love taking Chuck for walks right now cause the changing colors are so different and vibrant everyday.

Are you a Nut Cracker???

I have something very exciting to talk about today!!!!

I am over the moon proud of my little dance kidlets. Five of our kids went to the auditions for the Ottawa production of the Nutcracker, and all five of them got in!!!! I'm so impressed and happy for them all!!

This week a reporter from the EMCNewspaper (our local newspaper) came and had an interview with each of the students. She took a nicely posed picture and everything! I can't wait to read the article next week and see what she says. I got to say a little about how proud I am of my students and how far we have come. It was awesome. :)

I was in the Nutcracker as a kid, most memorably as the tiniest mouse. LOL The only thing I remember is the mouse heads smelling really bad inside. LOL They were huge heads. Hahahaha...

Now these kids are coming back to me saying they are frogs, squirells, chipmuncks and beavers. Huh?!? Since when has the Nutcracker evolved so much??? Has anyone seen this version???

I can't wait to go and see this show...not only to see my students...but to figure out this new storyline following woodland creatures...hahahaha...

TV for me?!?! Really?

I am not a TV person. I have never in my adult life had a show I "had" to watch. I have always thought it was stupid when people taped shows or had to go home to watch it. I also think PVR's are ridiculous. You seriously need to watch that TV show later??? It's that important in your life??? TV has always been something that my significant other has forced me to do in order to spend time with them. I find it extremely boring and usually can only sit still for a mear 20 minutes or so.

I love background TV. I turn the TV on when I get up in the morning and just leave it on the channel it is on. It could be left on that channel until My Paddy changes it in the evening when he gets home. Right this second I am practicing this. LOL I turned the TV on about an hour ago...and I am watching...(let me look)...oh!!! 18 Kids and Counting. LOL Very interesting. This family has 18 kids???? Holy crapolla! That's alot.

This fall I have fallen in love with some shows. I am still not at the point where I need to tape them or anything...but I like them and actually will sit and enjoy watching them. These are my top 3 shows right now.

The clothes alone in this show are amazing!!! I have always loved Christina Ricci and she is sassy and fab in this one!!! Sundays are a good night! {sigh}

Playboy Club

This show is so naughty!!! I don't usually care for this dude...but is pulls it off in the show. I love the bunnies...what can I say???

This lady is crazy!!!!! I want to be able to remember everything!!!! :)

It's A Hit!!!

Well...my turkey turned out!!!!

I'm so proud, it isn't even funny. LOL

It wasn't thawed on Sunday so we had to roll our dinner over to Monday - but whateve!!!!!

So, here is a This is How I Cook a Turkey post for ya!!! :)

STEP 1: Thaw turkey in fridge and/or sink of cold water until fully thawed.

STEP 2: Take wrapping off and remove all guts and insides of the turkey! {gross - that's a pant duty!}

STEP 3: Smash 4 or 5 garlic cloves and mix with butter until creamy. Smear it under neath rhe skin of the turkey.

STEP 4: Stuff the turkey butt with stuffing of your choice. {My Paddy made ours and I will share his recipe another time}

STEP 5: Cut a package of bacon in half and lay the strips all over the top of the turkey.

STEP 6: Add a cup of water to the bottom of the pan and cover with tin foil.

STEP 7: Ours was a 6.5 pound turkey and I cooked it for one hour, covered on 450 F. After the first hour I uncovered it, and turned it down to 350 F for another 3 hours. I basted every half hour!!! :)

STEP 8: Let your turkey cool for about a half hour - then carve! Bacon included! So yummy!!!!

DIY ~ Crackle, Crackle!

In my "old" life, every 6 weeks I would meet my friend Jaimie and we would go for dinner and a pedicure. It was delightful. Ever since moving to Ontario, I haven't been for a pedicure once. I can't justify the money. I can think of a million other things I would rather spend my hard earned dollars on! LOL The other day, while wandering the shops downtown, I found that new crackle nail polish, and I had to buy some. I got black so I can put any color I want underneath.

So...here is how you do Crackle nail polish :)

STEP 1: Remove any old, gross, layered nail polish.

STEP 2: Push back cuticles and remove any on nails.

STEP 3: Paint two coats of any bright color polish on nails starting with a base coat first.

STEP 4: Once color is thoroughly dried, paint one coat of OPI or Nicole Crackle nail polish.

 DO NOT GO OVER ANY OF THE CRACKLE AREAS AND DO NOT APPLY TWO COATS.

Ta da! You have cool Crackle toes!!!! :) Amazeballs....

Well, today's goal of making a turkey for My paddy and the neighbors was an epic fail. Dispite having it in the firdge since Friday evening...it wasn't unthawed. {sigh} So, I guess I shall cook it tomorrow.

Miss. Travel McTravelson ~ Malcontentta, Italy

As I was saying in Part 6 (Venice) we stayed in a small town 20 minutes from the main island. It was called Malcontenta.

We fell in love with this place...especially me :) It was so small and quaint and quiet. We had been travelling so much that we just enjoyed having nothing to do...and almost being bored.

Malcontenta consists of one hotel, 2 restaurants, a hairdresser, a fruit stand, post office, army surplus store, realtor, church, one play park and of course their very coveted swivel bridge that opens the canal. :) It was so tiny and we laughed when we first got there. We didn't know what we were going to do with 4 days in this place. LOL

The weather was beautiful and we explored the whole town (which only took an hour! LOL)

We fell in love with a restaurant next to the hotel called the Palladio. The Italian family who owned it were so amazing!!! We became great friends with the son named Andrea and he was the only one that spoke English! We ate their twice a day for 4 days. They thought we were so weird when we would stand at the bar all night and drink beer. LOL

 In Italy they stop in to a restaurant or bar for what they call a Spritzer. It is this god awful red drink (Pat tried it once and I tasted it) but they stop in by parking our front with their flashers on and kids in the car, down a drink in 3 minutes and leave. Within an hour they would come back and look at us like we were weird for still being there! LOL

We were very sad to leave our new friends and their delicious pasta! When I think of Italy...this is where I think of...LOVE.

Outfit Post ~ This is How I Dance.

If you are a regular follower of my blog then you know my real job is a Dance Teacher. I am the luckiest girl around because I get to be creative, dance around and act silly all while getting paid. :)

I try and be a good role model for all of my kids in all of my classes. I naturally worry the most about my teens since I know this is the age where things start to change, they begin to try and figure out who they are, and everyone and everything is SOOOOOOOOOO important. I worry about bullying and their feelings and I try and enforce a positive and fun place  for them to be. My approach is to treat them all the same. Last night one of the girls came and asked me if she was my favorite. I laughed and said "No". The look on her face of utter shock was hilarious then she asked "Why not?" Now all the kids are looking at me for an answer and I said "I don't like you all equally!!!!" We all started laughing as they all groan "Misssssss....Shellllllleyyyyyyy!!!!! - Your mean!!!!" hahahahahaha...

My kids feel like I am cool at Dance but embarrassing in our small town (I think). I wear god awful outfits and trek around town doing errands before and after dance. This is my outfit post on a pretty tame dance ensemble :)

This is a total "Miss. Shelley" pose as well. Please ignore the horrendous state of my living room....{sigh} we are in mass production mode for all our Christmas Craft Fairs coming up. My favorite part is the look on Chuck Norris' face - "mom...seriously?!? You soooooo lame..."

I don't know what to say.

I really don't.

Nothing new and exciting is happening right now.

The weather has changed and has been pouring for days...so no long puppy walks, no beers at the neighbors, no gardening, no fun had by all.

I have been frantically working my little fingers away while My Paddy has been gone this week. We are getting ready for 2 full days of a HUGE HUGE HUGE craft fair in Stittsville, just outside of Ottawa. It is very hard to get into and is the largest around. We are very excited, but keep hearing that we need to have more and more stock. I ran out of card bases and am waiting for an order of them to come in! I finally got more mini canvas' and have been working on doubling up all of our funny art! Whew! Busy busy!

So...that's it. The highlight of my week was my Fall Harvest Baskets I posted about on Monday... LOL

DIY ~ Fall Harvest Baskets

Hi Everyone!

I was so gloomy this morning when I wrote THIS post, but I managed to peel myself off the couch and make myself do something that will make me happy :)

I decorated for fall and halloween!!!! YAY!!!

Remember in the summer when I made these amazeballs flower baskets for my front railings. Well, today I did a little make over on them!!!

Here is what you need:

~ dried or faux autumn leaves in all colors shapes and sizes. (I used fake ones)
~ pliers
~ scissors
~ berries, pumpkins, scarecrows, etc. to decorate with.


1. First, cut out all dead or dying flowers from summer.

2. Cut all your leave bunches into single sticks so you have a while bunch of different small pieces.

3. Stick all your pieces into the dirt and and make a pretty bouquet!

4. Add in berries, mini pumpkins and other decorative items as final touches.

Ta da!!! Cool hey???
