DIY ~ Chuck's New Dog Coat

Chuck Norris is way to big boned for dog coats.

I have even tried the XL size, but Beagles have such thick chests, they never fit.

 

 

I have wanted to make him one for a while, and I finally got to it!

 

YOU NEED:

1 meter fleece fabric

1 meter flannel fabric

co-ordinating thread

sewing machine

Velcro

scissors

tissue paper

pen

 

Start by measuring the length of your dog.

I went from the back of his neck between his ears to the tip of his tail.

I wanted to have a collar I could fold down or pull up.

Now measure the width of him at his largest spot.

 

Using folded in half tracing paper, measure the length you need and half the width you need.

Make marks on the tissue to show where.

 

Draw a shape like this:

 

 

Using the patters cut out the fleece and the flannel in that shape.

Also cut two straps 2.5 inches wide by the length you need to go around your dos chest.

 

 

 

Sew the two coat layers together, right side to right side, leaving an open hole so you can then flip it inside out.

Iron flat the seams.

Do the same for the straps.

You can top stitch again around the edges now for a more professionally made look.

(That's what I did)

 

Using pins, fit the coat fleece side down around your dog and pin the straps where needed.

I did one below his neck and collar across his upper chest, then one past his legs on his upper

belly(ish).

 

Using a zigzag stitch on your machine sew the straps on one side.

 

Measure where your Velcro is needed and sew it into place.

I used three strips for each strap for an extra strong hold.

Chuck Norris Gets a Parcel

Last week Chuck Norris got the biggest box in the mail.

He was so excited...

 

Doesn't he look pumped?!? LOL

 

The parcel was from a puppy swap we entered a while ago!

We sent some stuff to a lovely blogger, and a different lovely blogger sent Chuck some stuff!!

So a big thank you to Dianapantz for all these lovely gifts!!!

 

We got some lovely healthy doggie treats that Chuck loved, a roll of doggie bags, this awesome neck warmer that is so perfect for chilly dog walks (already worn it a few times too!) and lastly, quite possibly the most amazing dog toy ever.

 

I have not seen one of these before.

They are indestructible...seriously.

Chuck can get anything apart and eaten.

Not this bad  boy!!!

It's called a Jolly Boy, and I literally have to pry this thing out of Chucks mouth to go to bed.

He is in love with it.

PL Peek ~ Chuck Norris Learns to Swim

Chuck has always had a bit of a water phobia.

He's great in the shower, but if he gets sprayed by the hose, wet grass, or large bodies of water it has always caused major freak outs.

I decided that now that we live on the river, its time he learned to swim.

Chuck did so well!!! He did not love it the first time, went a little under, but he got better and better as he practiced!!!

Outfit Post ~ I Feel Taller Already

I have seen all the teens at dance with these super cute sweatshirts and have wanted one forever.

I kinda thought maybe at the soon to be ripe ol' age of 30 I was a little too old to pull it off...

Then I though - WHO CARES!!!!

Chuck Norris and I love laying in the sun. In the mornings it comes through onto the couch and we cuddle.

I Miss Chuck Norris!!! :(

My poor poor poor puppy has been at a puppy sitter over Christmas and I feel terrible!!! I have never left him for more than two nights and I'm worried he will think I don't love him :( I know that's not what he is thinking and he probably is a little happy to get a break from my smothering...LOL {sigh} I still miss him though.

My Favorite November Posts

This Is How I Cook: Puppies Treats

Happy Funday Sunday Peeps!!!

Today I am gonna share with you my supa dupa puppies treat recipe. I have tested and tried many many dog treat recipes, but this is the proven winner. It's his favorite, the freeze great, they last well in a sealed container and they are super fast and super easy. :)

I mashed a few recipes together to make this up kinda...LOL

You will need:

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

2 eggs

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

2 tablespoons peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

water

Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Mix together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable. Roll the dough out to be approx. 1/2 inch-thick. Using a knife or cookie cutters make small pieces. Bake until hard, about 40 minutes.

I would love to hear some feedback if anyone makes them!!!! :)

Chuck's Spooky Birthday Party!!!

As you all know, last weekend, we had a birthday party for our puppies Chuck Norris. It's so near to Halloween that I just decided to go with that theme. I mostly did this party for my little kidlet friends. {Emma, Joel, Jayden, Jessa & Kali}

Everyone came over and we had lots of yummy foods like cupcakes, caramel apples, popcorn, candies and yummy dog treats for the puppies!!!

Thank you to all our friends who came over and enjoyed some cupcakes with us and spoiled Chuck rotten!

Reason to get together - right guys?!?
