Monday. Blah.

I am so low these days. I don't know what has gotten into me. I have gone back to negative - hate my life- Calgary Shelley and I don't like it. {sigh} It just seems to feel like everything is not going right today.

Even the weekend kinda sucked. The weather was terrible up until Sunday and our Housewarming BBQ got rained out. We ended up getting about 23 people but nobody ate anything and now I have burgers and buns coming out of my ying yang. Also, no outside time makes people leave earlier. But my closest (and coolest) friends Jody & Joe and Jamie and Chris stayed till the wee hours drinking and laughing till we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore. LOL Good times had by all. Oh, but of course I was so busy drinking and eating, I forgot to take photos....{sigh}

But...on a happier note...my Etsy shop is doing REALLY great!!!! Thanks for everyone's support! We are shipping a huge shipment of my Upcycled candle sticks today and I am so excited! They went so fast I didn't even have a chance to show you guys!!!! I love these and I have a whole bunch more I bought this weekend that I will do this week. So, watch my Etsy shop ~ I have also just posted lots of new goodies from the best ever garage sale I went to on Friday night!!! It was amazeballs.

That's it...hopefully I'll have a card tomorrow,
Cheers,
S.

PL Peek ~ Job #1

Here is a little P L (Personal Life) Peek.

Work #1. It sucks.

It could be a good job, but it just isn't.

I am the Office Manager for an office of 1 person. Me.

Mostly I do all the accounting and shipping. I am here alone majority of the time, and it is always freezing, even when it's +30 out.

I will say, even though I work in a dumpy old warehouse down by the river, it still can be quite pretty.
Chuck is here all day - <3 him!!!

Dead Dawg...

 Dog House

So, I am a bookkeeper/Office Manger/Personal B*tch for a wholesale Company. It is so tedious and brain numbing at times, but I have to do it until I can figure out what I wanna be when I grow up.

Money and stability are more important at the moment and since we just moved here 8 months ago, we are still getting settled. Although, things are going very well for us here.

I'm also lucky my other job is all fun fun fun!!! That's a whole other post though!

Cheers,
S.

Miss. Travel McTravelson ~ Lisbon, Portugal

New segment over at Shelley's Craft Everything Room.

My Paddy and I have done a lot of traveling together. It has been glorious. We travel well with one another which is the most important part. Last July we ventured out on the trip of a lifetime, and our longest adventure yet. EUROPE. Before moving across Canada we packed up and went to Europe for 2 full months. It was amazeballs. (That's my word...I use it a lot. Means extra extra extra mucho mucho amazing.)

So, I thought I would take you through our trip - each stop at a time. {It's the modern day version of those dreaded slide shows our parents friends used to put on! LOL} To start off, I will take you to...

 LISBON, PORTUGAL.

I loved Portugal. I wish we could have spent more time there. It was very difficult to get around, but the weather/people/atmosphere was so cool. It was our first taste of Europe and all the differences it came with. Food, culture, beer...everything was different and I loved it. :)
There was a beautiful looking beach view in Lisbon, but the sewage smell was unbearable and the beach was littered with garbage.
We ate the best sea prawns at a Ma & Pop restaurant down the alley I am heading to in the picture above :)
On our last night we went to their Summer Music Festival and saw the most spectacular lights, fireworks and music show ever! It was beautiful!

After Portugal we headed on our way to Spain... {we couldn't find any hotel vacancies in any other towns in Portugal and we had to leave our hotel that day!!! Crazy eh??? Not a single room to be found...}
See ya in Madrid bitches.... waahaahaa!!!

 "Hold Hands and Take Care of Eachother." {As my Momma says everytime we go travelin'!}

Outfit Post ~ First One EVER!!!

Ok, here I go. This is my VERY FIRST outfit post. I'm hoping by forcing myself to do this I will learn 1 of 3 things:

a) How to dress and have a bit better style
b) to not be afraid of what people think of me
c) to get over my hatred for photos being taken of me ;)

So, on Saturday morning I went to do some garage sale-n' and down to our local Brockville market. I put this number together and it was a very scary process. I have some amazing pieces I just never wear them! I also never where skirts or dresses but have decided that this summer...that is over and done with. LOL

Ok...start from the top. The yellow t-shirt is from Aeropostle and so is the jean skirt that comes with a belt. It has a couple buttons up the front and a cute rouched waistband - it was $2.50 {heeeaaaayyyy!!!!} I wore Old Navy black tights underneath and a black gap cardigan over top. I used the jean belt and tied a bow. Stupid?!? Maybe. {Thoughts and help please - all feedback - good or bad is helpful!!!} I slipped on my Dr. Scholl's black flats (which I love!!!!), added a gold necklace with blue rock pendant I bought at a market in Australia and my blue ring I got in Jamaica.
Please ignore my hair completely for the next bit. I am trying to grow it out and HATE IT right now!!!!! But I did find a cute new hairdo thanks to Katie at Skunkboy Creatures and sported that on Sunday when we went on Paddy & Shelley's Great Adventure to Watertown! :)

What do you think of my first attempt???

Cheers,
S.

Letters...

Dear My Oldest Friend:
I love you. I miss you. I think about you everyday.  Why can't my life be more exciting so I can call you with news everyday? Why can't I find time for that? I'm sorry about your father. Everything will be ok. I promise. I wish I could give you the biggest hug I have ever given you.
Dear Sunshine:
Let's be friends. Can you come out and play today?

Dear Dad:
Your stupid. But I still love you for sitting very uncomfortably on a plane tomorrow to come see me. I can't wait.

Dear Dancing:
I have enjoyed our first few months together. But I am excited for you to be over on Saturday for the summer. I need a break. It's not you, it's me. Sorry.

Dear Haribo Gummi Bears:
Why are you so gross in Canada? Why can't you be marvelous morsels of delicious explosive flavors in my mouth like you were in Europe last summer?

Good talk everyone.

Don't forget about my blog candy! Anyone can enter...HERE.
Cheers,
S.

FAVES ~ Freckles, Freckles and MORE Freckles...

Blogging is something I never thought I would do. Girlfriends have talked about it over the years and I kinda laughed at them (on the inside of course). I have always not liked the Internet because ANYONE, ANYWHERE can find out ANYTHING they want about you. That's disturbing to me. But, after the YFH (year from hell - also known as 2010) I needed cleansing and needed to make more time for myself. We moved and that's when I decided I needed to hole heartedly do the things I am passionate about - for myself. I have been experimenting with all sorts of different craft mediums. Of course right now it's blogging, cardmaking and painting. Plus gardening is creeping into the top 3 fairly fast here. Once I had so many cool things, I needed to share them since I didn't know anyone in my new town. Thus came Shelley's Craft Room.
I have figured out that with my blog there are so many other types of blogs out there. Who knew there was a sea of people out there that love vintage finds, flea markets and up cycling like I do?!? Who knew and didn't tell me?!? LOL I stumbled upon a BEAUTIFUL blog and BEAUTIFUL person in my new blogging adventures.
Her name is Kyla Roma. Now I don't know Kyla, nor does she know me...but I bet if I did know her...we'd be besties. HA! (If she ever reads this I'm sure she'd be a little creeped out right now!) Her blog is AMAZING!!!! It has everything I could ever dream of. Beautiful images, cool ideas...AWESOME links. She finds/has/gets the most awesome vintage finds around. She can make anything look beautiful. The clothing ideas on her website are to die for...that's what I wanna look like in wish for life, not frumpy and dishovelled like I do in my real life. LOL I just love her ideas! Kyla is part of a group of kids called Freckled Nest Design.
These are some cool ladies. So talented and each one unique. If you need a blog custom designed, going by their blogs - they can rock it! Check them out!!!!

Anyways, that's my Faves #2 for ya...Enjoy!

Cheers,
S.

DIY ~ Refreshed Hutch

We have managed to get lots done around the house lately and when I say “we” I mean Paddy. LOL It rained all weekend so there was no yard work to be done. But we banged out some stuff inside. Paddy put the new kitchen faucet on (so much better) and installed 2 or 3 of the new light fixtures we bought.
I also re-did this cabinet I found in the deep dark dungeon we call a basement. It was  gross and Paddy pulled it out and cleaned it for me. Then it got a good couple coats of fresh white paint and we put up some cool wallpaper as the back part of the shelves. It turned out WAY better than I expected!!! It’s great because I needed somewhere to put my wine glasses and beer mugs! Plus I have some really nice dishware that goes well in it! I’m so proud of my DIY’s!

It now very nicely sits in our dining room and looks perfect!

Cheers,
S.
