Weekend In a Nutshell ~ November 16th - 18th

Man that was a fast but long week.

Whew! Glad it's the weekend :)))

 

Friday night I worked at the Boarding School and we watched the movie The Campaign.

Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis are so hilar!!!

Saturday morning I had dance and the kidlets were extra good to me!

So funny they are!

 

When I got home from dance Tally was making mini pizzas for us for lunch!

What a good man!!!

 

Then I watched a little bit of the movie Indian in the Cupboard until I was off again!

 

 

Sunday I got a whole bunch of blogging done - which makes me uber happy!

 



 

 I made a spectacular chicken burger dinner...

 

 

 All in all...weekend = success :))

Music Musts ~ CocoRosie

 

I love the weirdness that is Coco Rosie.

Two sisters from the US who took their music all the way to Paris in order for them to find the niche.

I use her songs in my modern dance classes because they are so quirky and weird.

Check out this video of her some Smokey Taboo.

DIY ~ Cinnamon Candles

The other day my friend Deb and I decided that we wanted to do a craft.

We decided to try out some Soy Wax I had and make some candles.

I had never made candles before...so easy!!!
 

 

Here's how we did it.

 

YOU NEED:

 

Scissors

Glass Containers to make them in

Wicks

Large microwavable bowl

Spoon

Soy Wax Flakes

Cinnamon

 

 

First put your soy wax flakes in your bowl to microwave. I used my large Pyrex measuring cup so that I could pour easily.

Microwave the wax on 30 second intervals checking between each time.

Stir if needed.

Place your wicks in the center of each glass dish in preparation for the wax.

 

 

Once was is fully melted, add some cinnamon and stir well.

Pour the wax into the containers holding the wick so that it is dead center of the candle.

 

 

Let set overnight.

Trim your wicks and VOILA!

 

 

Cinnamon candles!

New Lot at the Shop!!!

I have been working like a mad woman trying to get enough new items made to join my friends at the new store in town!

It's called the 1000 Islands Artisan Collective and I want my stuff in there!!!

If your from my area go check the store out, if not like them on facebook!

 

I just posted a whole bunch of new hand painted rock magnets in my online store!

 

 

I hand painted everyone of these rocks.

They come with a round magnet on the back and are clear coated for protection.

They run between an inch to two inches in size.

 

Remember - if you live close to me shoot me an email with your order and I will waive the shipping - plus you might get to meet me :)

This Is How I Cook ~ Much

Much is just a fancy word for Oatmeal.

Well...it's my family's word I guess.

It's the punjabi word for it. :)

 

Anyhoo...

Most of you folk make oatmeal with water right???

Gross.

Seriously.

 

Try it my way...

You'll never go back.

 

1. In a regular sized microwavable bowl, put 1/3 cup of Quaker Quick Oats and 2/3 cup milk.

 

2. Place in microwave for approximately 2 minutes.

3. Remove from microwave, be careful, bowl may be hot!

4. Add a glob of butter and a spoonful of brown sugar. Mix well.
 

 

5. Enjoy!!!

Weekend In a Nutshell ~ November 9th - 11th

 Ahhhh...the weekend.

Even though I work most of it, I still managed to find some fun time :)

Friday I made the most delicious cookies!

Saturday after dance, Tally took me for a date night to Island Delight!

Such great Chinese food :) mmmm...

After dinner we stopped by Tally's friend Em's bday party! 

Sunday I got some serious stuff done - haircut, dye job, clean the house, change the sheets, dog park, 2Messy store creations and so much more!

Tally and I went to Lyn falls with some pizza for lunch!

The weather was amazing ehre on Sunday and we were hot in our hoodies!



 

Sunday night I went to my friend #5's house for a movie and some cake pops!

 

Yay for fun weekends :)

DIY ~ Owl Magnets

I made these super cute owl magnets the other night.

They were unbelievably easy...so get out your sharpie...LET's GO!!! 

 

 

All you need are some small rocks, magnet, a sharpie and a glue gun.

 

 

Draw your owls onto your rocks after washing them.

I looked owl's up online to get some ideas.

 

Using your hot glue gun, attach a piece of magnet to the back of each rock.

 

 

Aren't they so adorbs???

Miss Travel McTravelson ~ NYC!

 

Quite a few years ago when I lived in Calgary I went down to New York City and met my family for Christmas.

We like to do this every couple of years.

This year we're going to Maui!!!

 

Christmas in New York is one of those experiences you just have to see for yourself.

 

 

The people, the lights, the chaos.

Amazeballs.

 

 

I was lucky enough to see 3 Broadway shows while I was there.

The Rockette's, Stomp and Wicked!

 

 

We also got to go to a Devils vs. Ranger's game at Madison Square Garden!!!

 

 

One day we took the ferry over to Staten Island to see the Lady herself :)

 

 

My sister in law and I really enjoyed going to the Serendipity Cafe and take a carriage ride around Central Park!

 

 

The two most important things for me to do was walk the Brooklyn Bridge and see Ground Zero.

 

 

New York City is still one of the best trips I have ever had!
