Photo A Day {April 18th}

Today's Photo A Day Challenge from Fat Mum Slim is Hair.

This one is of my side braid that I absolutely love doing...

My front bang pieces get so greasy after day one, but in general my hair is fairly dry. So, I braid them up quite a bit!

This Is How I Cook: French Fries

Guys,
I am so excited...
I bought my self a french fry cutter from Pampered Chef!!!
I have also made zucchini sticks, which I tried and made for my party on Friday :)
So yummy!

Here's how I made my fries.

STEP 1: Wash and scrub potatoes. (I did 2 for myself and it was plenty!)

STEP 2: On a cutting board, place the potato upright and push the metal portion down, cutting all the way through. Once you get near the bottom, place it in the lid portion of your cutter to get the fries out.

STEP 3: Heat up 3 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a frying pan on medium high.

STEP 4: Once hot, place potatos in and let cook, constantly turning them to brown evenly.

Enjoy!
I salted mine real good and added ketchup!

This is me and my Dad.
Yes, at my wedding.
(Long time ago, not the current relationship that just ended.)

He had just said something really funny that I still chuckle about to this day! heehee
Love ya Dad.

Restaurant Review ~ Santa Fe Grill

santafe
My friend J and I decided to go for a little day drink last week to celebrate our birthdays!
We stopped into Santa Fe in Brockville and had a delicious lunch.

I had the chicken caesar wrap and J had the vegetarian spring rolls.
Both were equally delicious and their french fries were so crispy and fresh!
We also downed a couple raspberry magaritas with mixed reviews.
Good amount of alcohol but the bitterness of the raspberry slush was so sour it stung our throats!
All in all, great lunch.
Santa Fe is known for the fajitas too, so go check them out!
Yum!

Outfit Post ~ It's About the Shoes

This whole outfit post is about these shoes.
I bought them in Calgary when I was there at New Years for $14 at Sterling.
What a steal eh?

These bracelets I got in the box of vintage jewellery Grannie sent me and the earrings were given to me by my neighbor Maryse's friend Nadine. :)
Thanks Nadine!!! I love them! I wear them all the time!

I do love my shoes :)

DIY ~ Maracas Ole!

I have the cutest little 4 some tap number called Shake It that I choreographed for competition.
It's to Gloria Estevan's Conga!
We had these nice brown plastic maracas that we had been using for months, but of course one of the kids dropped and broke it a mere week before the first cometition. {sigh}
Miss Crafty McCrafterson to the rescue!!!
Dadadadaaaaaa!!!!
I convinced my friend J to come help me since her daughter is in this group and was a large contributer to the death of the original maracas! Ha!
It took a full week but we did it!
Here is how to make you own snazzy Maracas!

#1: Lay out newspaper and cut strips for your paper mache.

#2: Blow up balloons, tying them with knots, until you have two that are close to the same size.

#3: Make your mache by adding 2 parts water to one part white flour. Mix with hands until it has a slimy texture with not too many lumps.

#4: Start dipping your paper strips and placing them on your balloons until you have two good coats done. Hang somewhere to dry (I hung them off my clothes line)
#5: Once dry, pop the balloons and pull them out. This should just leave you with a round shell with a hole in one end.
#6: Put in your noise makers!!! I used barley beads, but you could use, rice, dried beans, quinoa, etc.

#7: Take a chopstick and place it upright in the hole (one end inside with the barley). While holding it in place tape the hole closed around the chopstick. This is your handle.

#8: Back to the mache! Do another two coats including your handle using lots of extra strips in every direction possible. Let dry.

#9: Paint the maracas as desired! I did a somewhat Mexican theme!
Ta da! You can make your own maracas too! LOL
Cheers,
