Weekend In a Nutshell ~ November 30th - December 2nd

This was not an exciting weekend.
LOL
Well, exciting for me in the sense that I did absolutely nothing.
So lazy.
So enjoyable. :)

Here is what I did do...

Friday morning I worked at the 1000 Islands Artisans Collective where my stuff is displayed!!! :)

Tally and I put the Christmas Tree up :)))

Sunday we went to Canadian Tire and looked at all the purdy Christmas decorations!

Tally pulled out all his old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to make some awesome key chains that are now selling in my shop!

While he worked on his craft project, I made a whole bunch of new Monster Rock Magnets - go check them out...these suckers are hot!!! LOL

Other than that we pretty much watched TV, got some Christmas stuff done and relaxed!
So nice to have a day off where I didn't have to do anything!

Cheers,
Messy

DIY ~ Glitter Candles

I've seen these all over Pinterest and I had to give it a try.
Although messy, very effective and I love the look :)
Here's your Day 3 project,
Glitter Candles!

First take double sided tape and wrap it wound the candles in the pattern you wish.
Remove tape backing.

Over a tray (to catch extra glitter) sprinkle your candle in the areas where you have tape, until it is fully packed with sparkles!

Using an old paintbrush, q-tip or tissue, wipe away access glitter.

Finito.
Jazzed up candles.
Oh yeah.

Cheers,

This is How I Cook ~ Butternut Squash Soup

I have never had Butternut Squash before.
People use it all the time...I've just never tried it.
They had them on sale at the market this week so I bought one and decided I was gonna make me some soup.

I adapted my recipe from this one!

INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, coarsely chopped
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
3 pounds butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1-inch chunks
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 to 3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1 cup cream or milk

In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat.
Add onion.

Season with salt; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 5 to 7 minutes.
Add squash, broth, and enough water (4 to 5 cups) to cover.
Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium, and simmer until squash is tender, about 20 minutes.
Using a blender or an immersion blender, puree broth and vegetables until smooth.
I used my Pampered Chef hand blender.
Transfer to a clean pot as you do groups of squash.
Adjust soups consistency with a little water if necessary.
Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
Garnish with a small drop of sour cream!
Enjoy your soup - it's so sweet and tangy!
Cheers,
Messy
