PL Peek ~ BEST.DAY.EVER.

Hi Y'all!!!!
Yesterday was the BEST.DAY.EVER.
Dead serious.
Best.
Ever.

This Guy, is my new best friend.

For the first time, I {finally!} got to meet my BFF baby boy yesterday.

It has made me so sad for a long time that I hadn't met him yet.
They live in Victoria, and last time I was there she was still preggers with the little one!

It was a beautiful day, and we met up in Perth for some lunch. Her hubby's family lives in Ontario so they have been here for a couple weeks driving all over the province seeing family.

We sat in a beautiful park for a bit so we could catch up and play with baby.  He was so good...doesn't even fuss!!! He also loves the camera and is a total model when you start snapping! ha!

He looks exactly like his Dad and is one of those awesome kids who is perfectly fine being passed around and doesn't play strange. I don't like it when I hold a kid and they start to cry. LOL

Then her hubby took baby and let me and Kass have some alone time. We sat and talked it out. I miss her so much. Why is it that when I see her I am so happy, but after so mad I saw her? Mad because I miss her more when I see her?!? It's like the whole "missing" process starts all over after every visit, but if it's been a long time since I've seen her...I almost forget to miss. Hmmm...

Perth is beautiful and has so many cool shops!!! But it was the best day because of my best friend. :)
I love you Kass. xoxo

Cheers,
S.

Outfit Post ~ Hair Dying Day

Hello Jello.
I dyed my hair.
Red.
Yuppers.
That happened.

I am wearing cutoff jean shorts that I made last summer, a white tshirt I picked up at Goodwill and my Old Navy Rainbow Flip Flops circa 1999. :)
I don't know why I did it.
Dyed my hair.
I have been talking about it for weeks and everyone says I'm crazy and shouldn't do it.
I did it anyways.
LOL

I bought this necklace yesterday at the mall. I never go to our mall and I never buy at those cheapy made in china stores. But Siren's had this necklace for $3 and I couldn't say no.

This bracelett was there too!!!

These earrings are so old I don't even know where I got them...but they are from Calgary somewhere...LOL

My Paddy is away on work so couldn't take my photos...thus means we are back to my crap one's!
Hope you all have a great day!

Cheers,
S.

Cupcakes a la Emma :)

I saw this delicious blog post on Elsie's blog and couldn't help but try it. I am a sucker for anything sweet, gooey and jammy!!! Her sister Emma made these fantubular morsels of jammy goodness for her wedding and I NEEDED THEM. lol

Here is my attempt. {**please note that I am no baker, nor decorator, nor Martha Stewart in any way...so mine of course don't look quite as pretty! LOL}

Emma made the recipe very easy to follow - especially for someone like me who has never made cupcakes from scratch before! LOL

Here's the recipe...
This recipe will make 22-24 regular size cupcakes.

For the cake batter:
2 1/2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 2 teaspoons baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2/3 cup oil (I use vegetable or canola), 2 cups water, 2 teaspoons vinegar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

In a bowl combine all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda and salt). In a separate bowl combine all wet ingredients (oil, water, vinegar and vanilla extract). Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined and no visible lumps are left in the batter.

Fill cupcake pan (with liners) 2/3 full. Bake at 350 F for 20-22 minutes, until a tooth pick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

For the filling:
1 packaged softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup raspberry jam.
Mix cream cheese and jam together until combined, spoon filling into a pastry bag.
For the frosting: 1 1/2 cups softened butter, 1 1/2 to 2 cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon raspberry extract.

With an electric mixer beat the butter until creamy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and beat until creamy. Keep adding  bit more sugar at a time (beating in between) until you reach your desired sweetness. Then add in the extract, mix and spoon into a pastry bag fitted with whatever pastry tip you like (or none at all).
Using a sharp knife cut out small upside down cones from the center of the cupcakes. Fill this little hole with the raspberry/cream cheese filling. Pipe on frosting to cover the hole and the rest of the cupcake. Garnish with a real raspberry or a raspberry candy (we used candies).

They were alot of work {I don't know how Emma did it for the wedding...she is professional!!!!!} but oh so yummy!!!I decorated mine a little different, only because I can't find those little candies. I guess I could have used Swedish Berries...oh well. I also added a tad of red food coloring to my frosting.

Look at that yummy filling...that's a pretty good photo too...I'm getting better with my pictures!!! :)

This is the plate I gave my Bestest Neighbor Friend and her kidlets last night. :) Love them.

Thanks Emma & Elsie for the recipe, and for making me get off my butt and bake...haven't done that in ages!

Cheers,
S.

Concert + My Paddy = Amazeballs

Only since I have been with My Paddy have I discovered my love for concerts.
We have been to a few, but the best of all time was last years Muse concert is Calgary.
Anyhoo...On the weekend it was Riverfest here in our little town of Brockville and guess who the closing concert was?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
INXS!!!!!!!!!!!
We couldn't believe it...we love them!!! Plus, JD Fortune?!? So hot! heehee
So here are our photos from INXS...

Of course because our new home is located in the perfect locale...we just walked down and didn't have to worry abour parking and traffic!

Overall, it was an awesome concert and me and My Paddy had a GREAT time! YAY for cool date nights!

What's your favorite thing to do for date night?

Here is my card for today kids.

I am going to send this card to our friends Justin and Catherine because they just had a baby boy!!!! So exciting! Wish we were in Calgary to share this time with them :( But such is life. Anyways, I bought them the CUTEST little gift in the world! heehee Can't wait.

I started with a scrap of oivey green and gold polka dot paper and cut the edges in peaks. I added the blue and white stripe ribbon with a bow to the white area on the left.I used a sail boat puffy sticker I had and it is so glittery and cute! I punched out a white circle and bordered it with navy blue Cordinations paper. I used my scallop scissors to cut around. I added a congrats stamp I had already inked up that is from a Michael's $1.50 set. I colored it in with my Crayola pencil and added 3 blue jewels to finish 'er off! :)

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me vent and be uber excited about INXS! lol Still can't believe they came to my small town and I got to see them!!!

New Lot at The Shop

Hey hey hey....sup?!?

I just wanted to let you all know about the new stuff I have just put up in my store. Lots of great stuff, vintage, home made and upcycled. ;)

I am very diligent about inspecting my stuff before I sell it. I clean everything very well, and I only buy the best of materials. I pour my heart and soul into this stuff and I usually have a hard time parting with most of it. My Paddy and I buy everything based on if we would use it or not. :)  We love getting photos of our items being worn or used so please feel free to email me anytime with pics!!! YAY!!!

Ok, onto the stuff...LOL

Upcycled Vintage Rose Mirror - ON SALE
This mirror is the last one I have of a set. It's on SALE right now too!!!!

Betsey Johnson Red Patent Leather Belt

Little Boy & Girl Wood Wall Hanging
This is the cutest little print EVER!

I just painted a few funny/cute canvas' and they turned out great!!!! Take a look HERE!!!

I finally had some time to make some cards this week too! :)

I started with white cardstock as my base and added the teal velvet circle paper overtop. I cut one of the edges in a wavy line and added the green and blue polka dot ribbon in a bow to the free area. I found a miscellaneous kite and cloud puffy sticker and a jewel swirl for motion.

I used my "Soak up the Sun" sentiment from my MFT summer set. I inked it up in Dew Drop Momento Tuxedo black ink and embossed it with some Hologram glitter. I added two green mini brads and pasted that over the velvet paper.

I love all these summery cards I have been making lately!

Hope you guys have been enjoying some Sunday Retail Therapy!!! That's what I do on Sundays, breakfast then Etsy! heehee

S.

Outfit Post ~ Lily Pads and Antique Stores

Ta da! I did an outfit post again!!!! So proud of myself. LOL AND, I even worked up the courage to ask My Paddy to take the pictures for me so they are MUCH better!!!

{See?!? Better photos! YAY Paddy!!!!}

My Paddy and I made the decision to move to a small town because we wanted to be able to shop local and canadian, more importantly locally owned and operated. So, we spend a lot of our time trying not to go to Walmart/Superstore/Home Depot because we don't want to support them!!!! But...I was there with a girlfriend the other day because she needed to stop before she drove me home, and I found this dress!!!!

I love the 80's retro vibe of it and the straps are removable!!!! Can't beat that! Plus, it was only $9.99! You know me, Cheapy McCheaperson so that caught me right away!!!! Last summer I brought a really nice maxi dress from Walmart in Calgary before we went to Europe. I never look in their clothes section!!! :)

I wore this outfit on a day trip to Smiths Falls to do some garage sale and flea market shopping with my boy. We got some good buys...but thats a whole nother post! :)

On our little drive we found this little gem of a spot! It is a little water damn and park area and was quite pretty with all the lily pads! We saw a frog and a snail too! LOL It was so hot and sunny today, honestly the best day to do some serious shopping.

It is so exciting this summer because I bought so many cool and unique items last summer in Europe...it's like all new stuff again! YAY!!! Loves it!

How did I do on my pictures??? heehee

S.

HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PL Peek ~ Berry Buddies

Yesterday I was very nicely invited to go strawberry picking with my friends Cali and Arianna. {Oh, and of course their Mom Jenn too!}

We went to Tincap Berry Farm just outside of town.

The second you stepped out of the car you could smell the scent of fresh strawberries. Absolutely delightful.

We got our baskets and they gave us 2 rows to pick.

I was really good and only ate 3 strawberries the whole time. Jenn was a lean mean berry picking machine!!!!

It was so much fun!!!
I can't wait to go raspberry picking now...

 Here's my basket!!!!

Thanks again for letting me come with you guys Jenn!

Cheers,
S.
