DIY ~ Headboard

Today I have another DIY for you all! :)
When I posted our new bedroom photos, I promised to do a tutorial on how to make our headboard!!!
We don't have a fancy bedroom set, and to be honest, as nice as they are, they are way overpriced. Plus, you know me...I love mismatched and vintage.
Anyhoo...I made us a new headboard to finish off my bedroom makeover. :)

SUPPLIES:

~ sheet of plywood cut to the size you want for your headboard. {I made mine go from the top of our baseboards right to the curve in our ceiling, then about 6 inches wider on each side of our bed.}
~ thin piece of wood to put on back as supports for hanging later
~ foam
~ durable fabric
~ staple gun and staples
~ drill
~ buttons {optional}

STEP 1: Get your DH {Darling Husband} to cut you plywood to the size you would like.

 STEP 2: Lock your puppies in jail when he is playing with the saw cord LOL

STEP 3: Mount the smaller pieces of wood {I used 1 x 4's} on the back for easy hanging later.
STEP 4: Lay foam over the whole board so that it wraps on either side a little.
STEP 5: Cover the whole board and foam with your fabric stretching and stapling it on the back.
STEP 8: Get you DH to hang your headboard!!!! :)

STEP 9: Enjoy your new padded headboard!

Dear York Peppermint Patties:
Thank you for helping me figure out how to freshen my breath and get fat at the same time.

DIY ~ Hello Buttons

I adore buttons!!!! I had a HUGE collection until I did this latest DIY!!!!

I made a button lampshade! I have seen tonnes of pictures on pinterest, and we have a wicked lamp with a not so wicked lampshade! But NO MORE!!!!!! Here we go...

What you'll need:

~ buttons, buttons and more buttons {all shapes sizes and colors you want}
~ hot glue gun
~ glue gun sticks
~ lampshade

STEP 1: Lightly dry wipe your lamp shade to make sure there is no dust on it.
STEP 2: Heat up your glue gun.

STEP 3: Start gluing buttons onto your shade. Leave a little space all around cause it looks a little better. {I think.}

STEP 4: Keep on gluing!!! It takes a while...LOL

 Isn't it amazing???? I absolutely love it! I picked all fall colors since that's the colors of our living room...

I definitely give this DIY a thumbs up!!! :)

Let me know if you try it!!! I would love to see other peoples buttons!!!

Chuck's Spooky Birthday Party!!!

As you all know, last weekend, we had a birthday party for our puppies Chuck Norris. It's so near to Halloween that I just decided to go with that theme. I mostly did this party for my little kidlet friends. {Emma, Joel, Jayden, Jessa & Kali}

Everyone came over and we had lots of yummy foods like cupcakes, caramel apples, popcorn, candies and yummy dog treats for the puppies!!!

Thank you to all our friends who came over and enjoyed some cupcakes with us and spoiled Chuck rotten!

Reason to get together - right guys?!?

Cheers,
Messy

PS: A special thank you to Jayden, Jessa & Emma for taking all of the candid photos from the party!!! :)

My Weekend In a Nutshell ~ October 21st - 23rd

It has been FOREVA since I have done a "Weekend in a Nutshell" Post. Crazy.

This was a great weekend. We did a ton of stuff, saw lots of friends and got alot accomplished!!!

1. Friday was Chuck Norris' Birthday and we had a lil' shindig for him! All his besties came and we had cupcakes, peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats and caramel apples!!! YUMMERS!!! Chuck scored tonnes of big bones and a super cool Superman costume for Halloween!!! **Thanks Laurelle, Jody, Joe, #5 & Maryse for coming and celebrating with our "kid"!!!**

2. We started a major project!!! Home DIY and I love it - but ya'll are gonna think we are crazy!!! I will post lotsa pics later this week..but here is a teaser for you...

3. Went to go to Gatineau Park in Quebec, and stopped for breakfast in Ottawa. Then stumbled upon the farmers market!!!! YAY!!! We bought veggies and pumpkins to carve this week!

4. We took some family photos in Gatineau Park with the trees and leaves. Chuck barked a lot, I lost my cell phone, and we spend an hour and a half sifting through leaves and didn't find it. Meh.

Great weekend had by all!!!

DIY: Nails ~ Roar!! :)

Look what I did!!! :)

A few weeks ago at dance one of the teens had these super cool nails with a floral print and she told me she had bought a kit for them. I found them at Shopper's and I told myself I would buy them for myself if I grew my nails and stopped biting them. So...fast forward 2 weeks and my nails are just long enough to look decent!!!

Here's how you do it...

1. Buy the Sally Hansen Nail kit. (mine was $7.49}

2. File, clean and push back cuticles.
3. Using the white file supplied, buff the top of your nails until matte.
4. Take one of the nail stickers and peel the clear coat off.
5. Place the sticker at the base of your nail and lay down, curving around the corners.
6. Press the end on the edge of your nail to create a crease, then tear the remaining part of the sticker off. {I saved mine and used some upside down on other nails. Then I will get two full sets out of this one package}
7. Using your wooden tool supplied, lightly press down the sticker.

8. Once all nails have stickers, paint a clear coat over top for protection.

Super easy!!! I love mine and can't wait until today when we take all our cute fall photos!!! I also cant wait to share them with you!!!

This is a very exciting week coming up...
I have my cute nails, MY Paddy is in town working this week, we started a major DIY redo on one of our bedrooms and I have loads of fun photos to show you already...even though we just started, I have two guest posts this week and Friday the dance studio is having our Annual Monster Mash Party to raise money for our Competitive Team!!! Gonna be a great week with some super fun posts! Yippee!!!

Happy Sunday!

Goodies!!!! :)

We are having a birthday party for Chuck Norris this weekend and I am getting some things all organized today. We have a couple friends and their kidlets coming over for cake after dinner and I decorated the house all Halloween-y and made some super cute goodie bags today.

Nothing to Spectacular, but I thought I better share something since I haven't posted this week. I am so low I am barely functioning and can't find anything even remotely amusing to post about.
